The company has operated as Matrolab (Pty) Ltd since 1970.
Matrolab Group (Pty)
Ltd. has offices in Pretoria (head office), East Rand, Rustenburg, Polokwane and Durban, and affiliate companies operating in Cape
Town (Matrocast Laboratories), Port Elizabeth (Matsim
Laboratories), Nelspruit (Matrolab Lidwala) and Lephalale Civil
Engineering Laboratories (LCE Lab). The Company
also has international registered offices / companies in
Mozambique, Swaziland, Botswana and Namibia. Materials Testing
Training College (Pty) Ltd. has been established by Matrolab to
provide support services such as staff evaluation, training,
quality implementation, audits, and calibrations.
The Group has a total staff compliment of more than 400, with
management having combined experience in excess of 350 years.
The Group has adequate resources to handle major construction
projects as described below.

Scope
of Service:
The Scope of service being offered by Matrolab Group
(Pty) Ltd includes the following:

Compactions, DCP Tests, Plate Bearing Tests, Seismic
Surveys etc.),

Research
and Development :
Matrolab has a commitment to improvement
within the industry and has been involved in many research and
design projects viz:
- Electronic Deflections: Matrolab has
designed the Electronic Benkelman Beam to measure pavement
deflection bowl and “Radius of Curvature”.
- Falling Weight Deflection: Matrolab has
designed and commissioned the first “Falling Weight
Deflectometer” in South Africa
- Specialized Asphalt Testing: Matrolab has
been involved in the research for dynamic fatigue testing on
asphalt.
- Software Development: Matrolab has
developed a software division which specializes in the
development of software for civil engineering test reports,
laboratory consumables control etc.

Quality / Competence:
The Pretoria and Durban laboratories have
obtained ISO 17025 accreditation. All other laboratories within
the Group are operating in accordance to a Quality System based
on ISO 17025.
